About the Project

This project was inspired by our wonderful service men and women, your continued sacrifice does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. As someone with many friends and family members in the military, I wanted to give back. When I found out about the challenges in the matching process I wanted to find a way to contribute.  As a future occupational therapist, I felt compelled to use my resources to try to benefit this process and share knowledge about service dogs with my fellow practitioners. This website was created as a resource for both veteran and civilian handlers as well as occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals.

I have learned that getting reputable information about service dogs can be confusing and challenging, I hope you find this site beneficial and helpful. Please feel free to reach out to me via email on the contact form for additional information about the project or to share your service dog story!

Acknowledgements

A special thank you to Canine Support Teams and Mobility Service Dogs for allowing me the opportunity to virtually observe! I would also like to thank my project mentor Martha for her knowledge and support, without her input and expertise this project wouldn't have turned into what it did! Thank you to my friends and family for helping me on my journey to becoming an occupational therapist, I couldn't have done it without you!
